1. What exactly CCNP Certification is?

CCNP Certification has been awarded by Cisco Systems® and its primary focus is in installing, configuring LAN, WAN, and dial access services in medium to large networks more than 500 nodes or more), including fair use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP, OSPF, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.  CCNA is basically a pre-requisite for CCNP course. The CCNP certification is awarded to the candidate after successfully completionion of the following four exams:

1. Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks 640-901

2. Building Cisco® Multilayer Switched Networks, Exam 640-604

3. Building Cisco® Remote Access Networks, Exam 640-605

4. Cisco® Internetwork Troubleshooting, Exam 640-606

How long the certification is valid?

These Cisco Certifications have limited validity but it  usually remains valid upto 3 years. You need to re-appear or achieve next level of certification inorder to retain validity even after 3 years.
